Summer Camp Program


What is CAMP America?

The CAMP America program is for persons aged 18 years and over who wish to experience a diversity of cultures and interact with children outside of the environs of their home country whilst getting the opportunity to work in a new environment and gaining relevant experience in the world of work.

 

 

Camp Counselor: Role Overview


Camp counselors are at the heart of the camp experience, ensuring each camper enjoys a safe, supportive, and fun environment. They lead and participate in a variety of engaging activities, from outdoor adventures to team-building exercises, fostering personal growth and memorable experiences for every camper.


Responsibilities:

  • Safety and supervision: Counselors oversee campers' daily routines, guiding them through activities with attentiveness and care.
  • Activity Leadership: They facilitate games, arts and crafts, sports, and outdoor explorations that encourage learning, creativity, and camaraderie.
  • Camper Support: Counselors serve as role models, providing mentorship, conflict resolution, and emotional support to campers throughout their stay.
  • Excursions and Events: They may accompany campers on exciting off-site trips, ensuring safe and smooth outings beyond the campgrounds.


Requirments:

  • Between the ages of 18-26
  • Currently a University student, teacher, or recent graduate in Education

CAMP Support Staff: Role Overview


Support staff are the backbone of camp, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in every area, from meal preparation to facilities maintenance. While not directly involved with camper supervision, their work creates a welcoming, organized, and enjoyable experience for campers and counselors alike.


Responsibilities

  • Kitchen and Dining Services: Preparing and serving nutritious meals that fuel campers for their activities.
  • Administrative Support: Managing registrations, coordinating schedules, and handling communications to keep camp operations running efficiently.
  • Maintenance and Housekeeping: Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained camp environment, from accommodations to common areas.
  • Flexible Support: Ready to step in wherever needed, support staff help create a positive and seamless experience behind the scenes.


Requirements:

  • Full-time University Student

Financial value: Participants receive pay and benefits commensurate with those offered to their American counterparts at the camps.


Types of Camps:
Private Camps, Day Camps, Single Sex Camps, Girl Scout Camps, Special Needs Camps, Under-Served Community Camps, Christian Camps, Jewish Camps 


Membership fee: JMD$7000 (Non-refundable)

Programme Fee: USD$655 (includes visa fee)
