J1 WORK AND TRAVEL PROGRAM
What is it?
The J1 Work and Travel is a cultural exchange programme that allows college and university students who are enrolled as full-time students to go to the USA to share their culture and ideas through temporary work and travel opportunities.
Why should you participate?
The work and travel programme is a great opportunity for you to visit the US, meet new people, learn about the American culture and also share your culture! It is a life-changing programme, causing you to view things differently and to realise there is much more to life. On this programme, you will be working with Americans, and people from all around the world! You would be experiencing different cultures all in one place. If travelling is something that you have always dreamed of doing or something that you have done many times before and loved, then this is the perfect programme for you!
Summer Work and Travel Students must be:
- Sufficiently proficient in English
- College and University students enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree or other full-time course of study at an accredited tertiary educational institution outside the United States
- Have successfully completed at least one semester
Other Requirements:
- Applicants should be 18+
- Should have a GPA of 2.0 or above
- Available for May-June Start dates
- Able to stay in the US for 3-4 months.
Membership fee: JMD$7000
Program Fee: USD$1900
November Special:
Membership fee: JMD$7000
Program Fee: USD$1890 (must pay US$500 deposit in November)
Documents required:
- 2 passport-sized pictures
-Status Letter from your current University
-Transcript (Must be handed in January with semester 2 courses)
-Passport (should be valid for up to 6 months after job end date)
-Current School ID
Work and travel for me, has been a wonderful experience. I got the chance to meet people from all over the world and some of them I call friends. I've participated in activities that I've never done before, ate food from different countries and been places I've never been before.
